History of BNP Paribas in Japan
The history of BNP Paribas in Japan dates back to 1867 when Comptoir National d’Escompte de Paris, the predecessor to BNP, opened a branch office in Yokohama. In 1907, Paribas participated in arranging Japanese government bonds issued in Europe.
1867 | Comptoir National d’Escompte de Paris opens Yokohama Branch Office (-1877). |
1907 | Banque de Paris et des Pays-Bas (the future Paribas) participates in arranging Japanese government bonds in Europe. |
1968 | Banque Nationale de Paris opens the Tokyo Representative Office. |
1973 | Banque Nationale de Paris starts its business as Tokyo Branch. |
1973 | Compagnie Financière de Paris et des Pays-Bas becomes first European company to list on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (-1982 as name changed). |
2000 | Following the creation of the BNP Paribas Group in 2000, BNP Paribas Securities (Japan) Limited, Tokyo Branch, and BNP Paribas Asset Management Japan Ltd were founded. |
2010 | The combined entity renamed BNP Paribas Investment Partners Japan Ltd. |
2017 | BNP Paribas Investment Partners Ltd. changes name to BNP Paribas Asset Management Japan Ltd. |
2018 | Cardif Assurance Vie Japan Branch and Cardif-Assurances Risques Divers Japan Branch incorporated as Japanese insurance companies, Cardif Assurance Vie Japan and Cardif Assurances Risques Divers Japan. |
